A post-purchase survey app adds a short question to the Shopify Thank you page, so buyers can tell you how they found you and why they bought. It is a good place to start, but it is one question at one moment. A Voice of Customer program listens before the sale, after delivery, after a support ticket and in public reviews, then turns all of it into decisions. This list compares nine apps on exactly that: how much of the customer’s voice each one can capture and use. Eight are survey apps. The ninth is Responsly, which we build, so weigh our entry with that in mind. You will see what each app does well, where it stops, and how to grow from one question to a full program.
Is a post-purchase survey the same as Voice of Customer?
No. A post-purchase survey asks one group of people, once, right after they paid. Voice of Customer (VoC) collects feedback at every stage of the customer journey, brings it into one place, and shows each team what to fix. The first gives you a channel report. The second gives your whole company a way to listen.
Here is what a store can learn at each stage:
| Stage | What you learn | How you ask |
|---|---|---|
| Before the purchase | Why visitors leave without buying | Exit-intent widget in the store |
| Right after checkout | How they found you and why they bought | Thank you page survey |
| After delivery | Whether the product kept its promise | Email, SMS or WhatsApp survey |
| After a support ticket | How the problem was handled | CSAT from your help desk |
| Over time | Whether they would recommend you | NPS survey |
| In public | What they tell other buyers | Google, Trustpilot and app store reviews |
Almost every app below covers the second row, and that is where most comparisons stop. The other five rows are where a store learns why customers stay.
How the nine apps compare
The list runs from the widest coverage to the narrowest. “Not listed” means the vendor’s listing does not mention the feature.
| App | Best for | Store surveys | Email or SMS | NPS | AI analysis |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Responsly | Full Voice of Customer | Yes, with exit intent | Email, SMS, WhatsApp | Yes | Yes, Athena |
| Zigpoll | The most survey channels | Yes, with exit intent | Email, SMS | Yes | Yes |
| SEA Survey & Quiz | LTV reports | Yes, with exit intent | Yes | Yes | |
| Grapevine | Simple surveys at one price | Yes | Yes | Connect your own | |
| UserLoop | Before and after the sale | Yes | Not listed | Yes | |
| Fairing | Marketing attribution | Not listed | Not listed | Yes | Attribution insights |
| KnoCommerce | Segments and benchmarks | Not listed | Survey links | Paid add-on | Not listed |
| Hulk NPS | NPS at checkout | Not listed | Not listed | Yes | Not listed |
| Pathlight | Revenue per answer | Not listed | Not listed | Yes | Not listed |
Star ratings will not settle this for you. The eight apps with reviews score between 4.6 and 5.0, and only 14 of their 1,460 reviews give three stars or fewer. We read all 14. Four are about reporting or AI quality, four about bugs or slow support, three about pricing and plan limits, and three have no clear complaint. Only one reviewer said the survey form itself stopped working. The survey is the easy part. What disappoints people is what happens after the answer comes in.
The best post-purchase survey apps for Shopify
1. Responsly: best for a full Voice of Customer program
Responsly is a customer feedback platform rather than a survey app, and the only one here that covers every row of the first table. That is why it ranks first, and you should know we make it.
Start on the Thank you page. Essential, from $50 a month, gives you post-purchase surveys with attribution, revenue, LTV and NPS by channel, follow-up questions and email invitations.
Grow into full Voice of Customer. Professional starts at $250 a month billed yearly, and the final price depends on your volume and setup. It turns those surveys into a complete program:
- A survey widget in your store. Website surveys appear on the pages you choose and trigger on exit intent, time on page or scroll.
- Every channel outside checkout. Email, SMS and WhatsApp sends with reminders, plus in-app surveys for iOS and Android.
- Athena, our AI agent. It reads every open answer along with your reviews on Google, Trustpilot and the app stores, finds the themes, explains why NPS moved and recommends what to fix first.
- Integrations far beyond Shopify. Klaviyo, HubSpot, Salesforce, Zendesk, Intercom, Segment, BigQuery and many more, plus webhooks, an API and flows that act on each response.
We are new to the Shopify App Store, so we have no reviews there yet. If you will only ever ask one question, any app below can do it. If you want that answer to reach support, product and retention, this is what Responsly is built for.
2. Zigpoll: best for the most survey channels
Zigpoll covers the Thank you page, exit intent, product pages, email, SMS and Shopify POS, and it has the most reviews here at 602. AI sorts open answers into themes and sends a weekly report.
Where it stops: it collects feedback very well, but public reviews are not part of its listing, and plans are capped by responses until the top tier.
3. SEA Survey & Quiz: best for LTV reports
SEA Survey & Quiz ranks channels by revenue, LTV and AOV, and adds exit-intent surveys, email and product quizzes. Each answer can trigger an email flow, which suits marketing teams.
Where it stops: the focus stays on marketing, and one reviewer lowered their rating after finding the reports too basic. The app launched in December 2024.
4. Grapevine: best for simple surveys at one price
Grapevine has one plan with unlimited responses, covering post-purchase, on-site, email and Shopify POS surveys, with revenue by channel. You can query the data with your own AI assistant.
Where it stops: Grapevine’s own comparison page says its surveys do not branch, so “Which show?” cannot follow “Podcast”. Analysis is left to you.
5. UserLoop: best for before and after the sale
UserLoop combines storefront popups with post-purchase and email surveys, sends scheduled AI reports, and connects to Claude or ChatGPT through MCP. All 24 of its reviews give five stars.
Where it stops: revenue reporting and NPS are not listed, so attribution and loyalty tracking would need a second tool.
6. Fairing: best for marketing attribution
Fairing has specialized in the “How did you hear about us?” question since 2018. It ties answers to order and LTV data, and its Advanced Attribution add-on resolves them down to the exact show or creator. If attribution is your only question, it is a very strong choice.
Where it stops: that focus is also its limit. Surveys in the store and by email are not listed, so feedback stays at checkout.
7. KnoCommerce: best for segments and benchmarks
KnoCommerce suits teams that want to cut answers many ways and compare them with other brands, using audiences and benchmarks.
Where it stops: NPS is a paid add-on, and targeting, attribution reports and benchmarks sit on higher plans. Surveys outside checkout rely on links you send yourself.
8. Hulk NPS: best for NPS at checkout
Hulk NPS does one job: NPS and CSAT on the checkout, Thank you and Order status pages, with results sent to Google Sheets or Slack.
Where it stops: no revenue reporting or AI analysis is listed, so you see a score without the reason behind it.
9. Pathlight: best for revenue per answer
Pathlight tracks revenue and AOV for each answer and has the Built for Shopify badge.
Where it stops: it launched in November 2025 and has 19 reviews, and it stays on checkout and POS, with no AI analysis listed.
How to grow from one question to full Voice of Customer
Start small and add one listening point at a time. Nobody needs all of this on day one, but the order matters, because each step makes the previous one more useful.
- Ask on the Thank you page. Start with “How did you hear about us?” and one follow-up. Our post-purchase survey guide covers questions and timing.
- Measure loyalty after delivery. Send an NPS survey once the product has arrived, then compare scores by channel.
- Listen in the store. A popup survey on exit intent tells you why visitors leave, which no buyer survey can show.
- Connect support. Ask for feedback when a ticket closes, and send the answers to the help desk your team already uses.
- Bring it into one view. Let AI read comments and public reviews together, and send each team the themes that belong to them.
You will know a survey app has run its course when your support or product team asks for the same data in a separate tool, when you export answers to a spreadsheet to read the comments, or when you want to compare channels on the customers they keep, not only the orders they bring. Our Voice of Customer guide goes deeper on running the program.
Whichever app you choose, check that it uses a checkout block on the Thank you page. Shopify no longer runs pasted scripts there.
How we built this list
We read the App Store listing and pricing page of each app, plus every review with three stars or fewer, on November 6, 2026. The order follows how much of the customer journey each app covers, not its rating or its price.
A feature counts only if the vendor lists it, so “not listed” may mean a missing line in a listing rather than a missing feature. We did not install all nine apps. We make Responsly, and our entry reflects what we say about our own product. If something here has changed, tell us and we will correct it.
