If you are on an Enterprise plan, you can use a custom domain for all forms in your account.
This helps keep your brand visible in every shared form URL.
For example, after setup, your form links can use surveys.mybrand.com/... instead of the default Responsly domain.
Before you start
- Access to a Responsly account on the Enterprise plan
- Access to your DNS provider (where your domain is managed)
- A subdomain you want to use for forms (for example:
surveys.mybrand.com)
You can set up one custom domain per account.
1. Create the DNS CNAME record
Before enabling a custom domain in Responsly, create a CNAME record in your DNS settings.
A CNAME maps your chosen host (for example surveys.mybrand.com) to the destination host required by Responsly.
- Open your DNS provider panel.
- Go to DNS records.
- Add a CNAME record:
- Host/Name: your subdomain (for example
surveys.mybrand.com) - Destination/Target: domains.responsly.com
- Host/Name: your subdomain (for example
Important: Use the exact destination provided by Responsly. Do not replace it with your own domain. The required destination may differ by region.
It can take up to 24 hours for DNS propagation. If you try to activate the custom domain before propagation is complete, verification may fail.
CAA records (if configured)
If your domain uses CAA records, make sure they allow common certificate authorities used for SSL issuance (for example: DigiCert, GlobalSign, Let’s Encrypt, and Sectigo/Comodo).
If needed, ask your DNS administrator to update your CAA policy before enabling the domain.
2. Add the custom domain in Responsly
- Sign in to Responsly and open your account.
- Go to Profile.
- Choose Domains in the left-side menu.
- Select Custom domain.
- Enter the full custom domain (the same host as in your CNAME).
- Confirm the change.
If DNS has not propagated yet, you may see a validation error. Wait and try again later.
3. Confirm and publish
After successful setup, you should see a confirmation message in domain settings.
Now open the Share panel in any form. Form URLs should display your new custom domain.
Troubleshooting
- Validation failed: check CNAME host and target spelling, then wait for propagation.
- SSL/certificate issue: check CAA records and allow required certificate authorities.
- Old links still used: update hardcoded links in embeds, emails, and docs.
