With the MailerLite integration, every survey response can be automatically added to your MailerLite audience. You choose how the data is mapped, which contacts are updated, and what information is carried over, making it easy to keep your subscriber list accurate and actionable.
Before you begin
Make sure you have:
- A Responsly account with permissions to set up integrations.
- A MailerLite account (the newer version) with access to API features.
- Your MailerLite API key (you can generate it in MailerLite → Integrations/API).
Step 1: Enable the Integration
To connect Responsly with MailerLite:
- Log in to Responsly.
- Navigate to Connect → MailerLite.
- Paste your MailerLite API key. Confirm connection.
After that, you’ll see the status change to “Connected,” and you’ll be able to choose a MailerLite Group and set up field mappings.

Step 2: Map your survey fields
Once connected:
- Select which MailerLite Group contacts should be added to.
- Map your survey questions in Responsly to fields in MailerLite. At a minimum, you need to map Email, since that’s required. You can also map first name, last name, and any other survey questions to custom fields.
- Decide what happens for existing vs. new subscribers: should the integration create new ones only, or update existing ones (e.g. add tags or fill in fields)?
MailerLite supports custom fields and groups/lists — fields and parameters are aligned with the API.
Step 3: How responses get sent
After setup, all responses with email addresses are sent to MailerLite by default - regardless of whether the survey is shared through a direct link, QR code, SMS survey, or an embedded form - and when a respondent completes the survey, their data is transferred according to your field mappings.
Step 4 (Optional): Use Flows to filter responses
If you want more control over which responses are sent to MailerLite, you can set up Flow conditions in Responsly - such as requiring the respondent to provide an email or give consent - so that only responses meeting these conditions are forwarded, while the rest remain in Responsly.
If conditions are met → contact + response are sent to MailerLite.
If conditions are not met → the response remains in Responsly but is not exported to MailerLite.

Common issues & what to check
If things don’t work as expected:
- No responses are appearing in MailerLite? → Check whether your Flow conditions exclude responses unintentionally (e.g. missing email or no consent).
- Connection problems → Verify your API key is correct and active in MailerLite.
- Fields are wrong or blank → Double-check field mapping, both in Responsly and MailerLite. Make sure custom fields exist in MailerLite and match what you map in Responsly.
